An administrative law judge released a recommendation last week for the proposed Brown to Newton CREZ transmission line, and it looks as though the line will likely pass through Mills County after all. Goldthwaite Cit Manager Rob Lindsey said last week that the judge released the preliminary order to the Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC) on Friday, March 5. The order names alternative route 255 which went across San Saba County and skirted around Mills County. Lindsey went on to say the order also includes language that would require Oncor to use monopoles, as opposed to lattice tower structures, anywhere the line would pass through the City of Goldthwaite. Lindsey said the City is “very excited” about the use of the monopoles inside the city limits, as it shows “the system works.” He also said, however, the City intended to file further comments and recommendations that would ask for the use of monopoles outside the city as the line “enters and exits the Mills County viewshed.” The deadline for these comments was March 12. A final decision from the PUC is expected to be handed down on April 1, Lindsey said. Residents can view the order by logging onto the PUC¹s Web site, and researching docket #37464 under retrieval filings, item #763. The order is drafted from the State Office of Administrative Hearings, and signed by Chief Administrative Law Judge Cathleen Parsley. The re commendation of Route 140 is specifically mentioned in section V, Summary of Recommendation. Figures showing a map of Route 140 are also available. Oncor’s senior communications specialist Catherine Cuellar told The Eagle this week a community meeting for the affected landowners has been set tentatively for April 20. She said the meeting is aimed specifically at residents whose land will be traversed by the line. Cuellar said she realized the transmission line is an “emotional issue,” and that Oncor wants to be “a good neighbor” and will strive to keep lines of communication open with locals, especially those directly affected by the transmission line.

The relevant factors include the disposition of several levels of equations that need to somehow be worked out in the red corridors of this cycle.
